Getting Started

During the install process you will be asked if you would like to have a “Desktop Shortcut” set up and if you would like to have Scribbly start immediately after installation. Notice that the “Installation Location” points towards “Program Files” but does show a folder for the app itself…though it is your choice you should go ahead and designate/create a new folder for Scribbly.

Note: Scribbly requires Adobe AIR (link provided at bottom of article).

This is what Scribbly looks like when it starts up. It is small, unobtrusive and can remain on top of other apps.

The top toolbar has the following commands available: “Change Settings, E-mail Your Scribble, Online Indicator, Close (Minimize)”.

And the bottom toolbar has these commands available: “Insert Time Stamp, Clear All, Mute, Donation Button”.

The first thing that you will need to do is go into the settings. There is only one item to take care of…entering the e-mail address that you would like to have your notes sent to. Once you have entered your e-mail address click “Save”.

Now you can start adding those notes. Notice that there is a “Subject Line” to help you differentiate your notes from each other in your e-mail account. If desired you can even add a “Time Stamp”.

To send your completed notes to your e-mail account simply click on the “Letter Icon” and your notes are instantly on their way. You will see a small confirmation message displayed as soon as your notes have been sent out. At this point you can add more content to your current notes or use the “Clear All Icon” and start a fresh set.

With a simple filter you can really keep your Scribbly notes organized in your e-mail account. Curious what notes look like after being sent out? Here are the notes from our example…nicely “boxed/outlined”, time stamp visible, and the subject line just the way that we wanted it.

If you need to exit Scribbly just right click on the “System Tray Icon” and click on “Close”.

Conclusion

If you have been looking for a quick and simple way to organize the notes that you collect during the day, then you should really give Scribbly a try. One small, unobtrusive, and very useful app combined with an e-mail filter can make a big difference.
